Easy-to-Use Self-Checking Barcode Fonts
Self-checking fonts offer easy integration with many applications without the requirement of check digit calculations. Easy implementation is accomplished by appending an asterisk before and after the data encoded to create a complete barcode symbol, as demonstrated in the following Excel Barcode Example. Learn more from the Mastering Code 39 and Codabar Self-Checking Fonts Video.
- Code 39 - An easy-to-use barcode type that encodes numbers, uppercase letters, and some special characters. It is also referred to as
Code 3 of 9, Barcode/39, and LOGMARS.
-
Codabar
- A numbers-only barcode type that is self-checking and easy to use. Because it is numbers only, it has a slightly higher density
than Code 39.
1D Linear Barcode Fonts
IDAutomation offers over 30 font encoders, macros, and source code for easy integration. These font packages are supplied with examples for use in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Crystal Reports.
- Code 128 & ITF Universal Barcode Font Advantage - A single font that supports many 1D linear barcode types, such as Code 128, Code 39, and ITF, on multiple operating systems and locales.
- Code 128
- a compact barcode type that encodes numbers, letters, and ASCII 0-128. Supports
Code-128 and
GS1-128 (Formerly known as UCC/EAN-128), and
ISBT-128. If cross-platform compatibility is required, use the Universal Font or the GS1-128 Font instead.
-
Code 128 for Mac
- Cross-platform compatible that works with any font codepage in any country,
including double-byte character sets.
-
GS1-128 -
used to create GS1-128 barcodes with exact sizes to match the various GS1 specifications.
-
GS1 DataBar
- formerly known as RSS Symbology. Used to encode the
GTIN and other GS1-related data, such as coupon codes.
- GS1 UPC, EAN & GTIN
- This is one of the most common barcode types. It is used to encode
the GTIN and is also used to create JAN,
ISBN, and
Bookland barcodes.
- ITF (Interleaved 2 of 5) - The Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode symbology encodes numbers in pairs, similar to Code 128 set C. It is commonly used for GS1 applications, such as for ITF-14
2D Fonts including DataMatrix, PDF417 & QR Code
-
Aztec Fonts
- A 2D matrix barcode type that does not require quiet zones.
-
Data Matrix
Fonts - A matrix symbol that allows very efficient encoding of data into a square barcode with error
correction.
- DotCode Fonts
- A GS1-compatible symbol composed of dots that can be arranged in a variety of aspect ratios.
- MaxiCode Fonts - Used primarily by UPS to route and track packages.
- PDF417 Fonts - This linear stacked barcode type is commonly used on FedEx shipping labels.
- QR-Code Fonts - A popular matrix font that is capable of encoding multiple types
of information, including website addresses and contact information.
- GS1 Barcode Font Suite - multiple fonts in a single package to support GS1 specifications.

- High-density numeric barcode used mostly in labeling telecommunications
components.
-
Code 93
- Similar to Code 39, but requires two checksum characters for more secure applications.
