IDAutomation.com, Inc. announces the new release of their GS1 Databar Java Barcode Package, which contains JavaBeans, Applets, Servlets and Class Libraries. The GS1 DataBar symbology is the latest barcode type for space-constrained identification from GS1. DataBar barcodes have been identified to solve many problems in POS, grocery and healthcare, where items are too small to allow for older barcode symbologies, or additional information needs to be encoded such as product weight, expiration dates, country of origin or serial numbers. DataBar is also the only symbology approved by the GS1 for use in all retail checkout systems after January 1, 2010 to encode GTIN-14 numbers.

The JavaBeans, Applets, Servlets and Class Libraries in this package may be used on any platform with a Java Virtual Machine, including Windows, LINUX, MacOS, Solaris, HP/UX, AS/400 and OS/390 to integrate automated bar coding into internet applications, websites or custom Java applications. This package includes GS1 DataBar, Stacked, Truncated, Stacked Omnidirectional, Limited, Expanded, Expanded Stacked Omnidirectional, Composite Components, PDF417, MicroPDF417, UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-13, EAN-8, GS1-128 and Code 128 barcode symbologies. Website designers will find the barcode servlets and applets efficient and easy to use. The servlets and applets require no programming and may be inserted in dynamic HTML with a simple IMG or Applet tag. Barcode Servlets are the best components to use for barcoding on the Internet because they are compatible with all operating systems and browsers.

A free demo of the product is available by download at http://www.idautomation.com/java/. Optional Java Packages contain all the popular barcode types including PDF417, Code 39, Code 128, UCC128, Interleaved 2 of 5, UPC, EAN, POSTNET, USPS Intelligent Mail, DataMatrix, Aztec and MaxiCode. Royalty free site or distribution licenses for the Java barcode products start at $395 USD. IDAutomation provides barcode fonts, components and software applications that support several barcode types. IDAutomation.com, Inc. has been marketing products for businesses since 1996 and is privately held. IDAutomation.com, Inc. announces a major update to its Java Barcode Packages, which now includes new functionality to support QR Code in the Java 2D Barcode Package. QR-Code, based on the ISO/IEC 18004:2006 standard, is a very efficient, 2D barcode symbology that uses a small area of square modules with a unique perimeter pattern, which helps the barcode scanner determine cell locations and decode the QR-Code symbol. Characters, numbers, text and actual bytes of data may be encoded, including Unicode characters and photos. Additional updates to the Java Packages include performance enhancements where parentheses are now recognized as a FNC1 character when apply tilde is set to true making it easier to comply with GS1 standards, the ability to manually select the start character for Code 128 and the ability to set the size, in pixels, of the saved image.

With the KeyScan Access Control System, an individual can pass their contactless or proximity access card in front of the card reader where the reader will decrypt the "max secure code" and authenticate it with a 3-pass encryption/decryption to unlock the algorithm. The credential is then sent to the access control management software to verify the access availability through KeyScan's proprietary 36-bit Wiegand protocol. The K-SECURE Mifare credential provides anti-counterfeiting protection using Keyscan's Max Secure encryption technology on 'over the air' transmission between the reader and card.

Hardware Update: Intermec PF8 Barcode Label Printer

Intermec has released their new and improved EasyCoder PF8 Barcode Label Printer as a direct replacement for their popular C4 Barcode Label printer. The .NET Forms Control and DLL package update includes a One Bit per Pixel update, which allows for quicker streaming and thereby produces a smaller bmp file, updates to the GS1 Databar symbology and additional performance enhancements. The Linear .NET Barcode Forms Control is compatible with any development environment that can utilize .NET Forms Controls and DLLs. Several bar code symbologies are supported in this control including Code 39, Code 128, UCC-128, Interleaved 2 of 5, UPC, EAN, Codabar and Postnet. The 100% managed code control is very easy to use and is provided with sample projects in C# and VB.NET. By integrating barcode technology directly into .NET Framework applications, it is no longer necessary to export data to a proprietary label program to print barcodes. The demo version may be downloaded from www.idautomation.com/formscontrols/ and is fully functional. This package also includes the IDAutomation RFID component which encodes smart tags and labels on RFID printers from .NET Framework applications. The control has many advanced features such as device independent graphics, data binding, adjustable orientation and strong name support. All functionality is implemented in a single file that is less than 150K in size, which makes it easy to distribute with other applications. A distributable royalty-free Developer License for the Linear .NET Barcode Forms Control starts at $395. IDAutomation.com, Inc. also provides barcode fonts and barcode components for ActiveX, COM, ASP, Oracle and Java. IDAutomation.com, Inc. has been marketing ID automation products for businesses since 1996 and is privately held. This scanner will continue to read the popular linear bar codes such as Code 39, UPC, EAN, Code 128 and Interleaved 2 of 5. Now, this CCD reader will be able to read PDF417, GS1 DataBar 14, DataBar Truncated, DataBar Stacked, DataBar Stacked Omni-directional, DataBar Limited, DataBar Expanded, DataBar Expanded Stacked Omni-directional and GS1-128.

The price remains competitive at $129 for the new model with the same great one (1) year warranty and the option to increase that warranty to three (3) years. Order Now!

Crystal Barcode UFL for Crystal 12

New functionality introduced in Crystal Reports version 12 makes it easy to turn fields into barcodes with their "Change To Barcode" menu option. The W3USB barcode wand is a cost effective solution for low reading volume applications. The internal decoder and interface eliminates the cost and clutter of a separate decoder box. The advanced optics scan barcodes as small as 4 mil with a scan velocity of 2-20 inches per second. Its shape gives the W3USB better comfort and handling compared to other pen based readers. Pull the trigger button and sweep the tip of the wand across the bar code in either direction and listen for the beep that lets you know the data has been successfully captured. The W3USB wand connects via a USB port, perfect for laptops and PDA devices. It contains its own built-in decoder so information scanned appears as if it had been typed from the keyboard. The GS1 System provides several types of bar code for use by GS1 members depending on the application. For example, the UCC/EAN-128 will now be known as the GS1-128.

GS1 DataBar will enable GTIN identification for hard-to-mark products such as fresh foods and can carry GS1 Application Identifiers like serial numbers, lot numbers, and expiration dates.
