Barcode Scanner support:

Product Problem Possible Solutions
All keyboard wedge barcode scanners The Barcode scanner does not operate properly after PC is powered on for some time, scanner may even send codes or text from the keyboard even when there is nothing being scanned. The PC is falling into a sleep or doze state. Reboot the PC and go into the hardware setup portion of the BIOS and disable all power / energy saving features.
All barcode scanners Barcodes are printed and are not scanned in by the scanner. Verify that the proper start, stop and check characters are included in the barcode. Also verify that the symbology is enabled in the scanner; refer to the manual.
USB Scanners Windows XP does not function properly after connecting USB scanner. Microsoft has a Windows XP USB update available here. For more information, please view these knowledgebase articles: KB813139 and KB822603.
IDAutomation SC5USB Scanner Need to disable the default carriage return the barcode scanner sends to the PC after scanning the barcode. By default this barcode scanner has the suffix of 0D which is a carriage return. If this option needs to be disabled, program the string setting on page 74 of the manual to 00.

NiceLabel Barcode Label Software Support:

Common Problems and Solutions Before contacting NiceLabel for support, please check the FAQ section at http://www.nicelabel.com/support/support_faq.php to see if the problem has already been solved.

Thermal Printer Driver Installation: To install the print driver for thermal transfer printers, download the printer driver from http://www.nicelabel.com/download/drivers.html and run the downloaded file. The PrnInst.exe file gives a step-by-step process of installing the drivers.

To Obtain Additional NiceLabel Support: If the user has ordered a copy of the NiceLabel Barcode Label Software or needs pre-sales support, please email support@nicewareintl.com and send all of the following required information.

  1. If the user has ordered a copy of NiceLabel, please email the serial number on the subject line of the email. For pre-sales support, please include the text "pre-sales support request" on the subject line.
  2. Version of the Windows® operating system.
  3. Version of the NiceLabel software; this information can be found in About dialog box from Help menu.
  4. Version of the NiceDriver for the particular thermal transfer printer.
  5. Include detailed description of the problems. Explain the steps to reproduce the program error.
  6. Attach the necessary files to be able to reproduce the error in test environment. Include label file, form file, graphics and database file.
  7. If possible, attach a screenshot of the dialog box with error message.

The following ASP.NET issues do not apply to the barcode product directly but may be of assistance:

  • Error "Cannot Debug ASP.NET Web Application" - Microsoft® KB Article 318465 (At the prompt, type aspnet_regiis -i from C:\Windows Directory\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v1.0.3705 to configure the application mappings correctly.)
  • Error "Error while trying to run project" - Microsoft® KB Article 306165 (Type iisreset at the prompt)
